Colorfall

An old legend in an unknown time relates that all colors once danced around the many Suns in the Galaxy. One day, in some forgotten millenium, the Colors swirled across a dark planet where no light danced at all. They grew sad at the thought of life without color and allowed the planet to absorb them. Before the time of the Colors, the beings of the planet were war-like and bitter, not having the exhilerating experience of having Colors dancing on water and illuminating their faces.

The Colors seeped into every rock, tree, and animal in the Dark Planet. Since the Colors were all goodness and light, and strived to bring happiness, they were not prepared to counter what the beings of the Dark Planet did. the beings were not unintelligent, just uninformed. They grew angry at the invasion. The common people demanded action from political leaders.

After days of revolting, the people formed their own army, and a sudden genius ahd an idea. From both poles armies marched, with special mirrors. The Colors were driven to a thin, equatorial line around the world, and from there driven toward a place agreed upon by all, where the Colors would be sent back into space.

The genius was quite pleased with her work. The Colors would be gone by breakfast. She decided to go to the front and watch her victory. Surely, she would be a hero to her people after this.

As she waited in the midst of the filthy, Color-flooded falls where the victory would be won, she looked around. The waterfall, she noted, was an interesting shade of Blue. Blue. She thought to herself that that was a pleasing color. Then she noticed wonderful Greens, enlightening Reds, and moist Browns seeping into the Blue water as the Colors were systematically pushed out of the land. As mirror-wielding soldiers marched over the hill, Green dripped out of the leaves, leaving enough of itself to leave them grey. The genius shouted in anguish at what she had done. She yelled for them to stop, and as light danced on the water and illuminated her face, the soldiers saw what it was that all of them wanted most of all in their hearts. They stopped at the edge of the waterfall pool. The Colors, however, were trapped there.

Apparently, the poeple of the Dark Planet were not deemed worthy of such magnificence. Now, the Colors do what they can to ensure happiness on the planet, though trapped in a waterfall, in the hope that some day, the people will redeem themselves.

The Waterfall now stands as a monument to all generations and serves a part in many religions. Many beings come from worlds away to watch the enchanting vision, which is known Galaxy-wide as the Colorfall.
